91_HR0818 LRB9113893KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of 3 the Illinois House of Representatives that Elizabeth Ann 4 Harden Chambliss will be retiring as the National Education 5 Association Director for Illinois and the Decatur Education 6 Association President; and 7 WHEREAS, E. Ann Chambliss was born on October 10, 1944 in 8 Paris, Tennessee; she was Valedictorian of her graduating 9 class at Central High School in 1961; she received her 10 Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from 11 Tennessee State University in 1965 and her Master of Science 12 degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the 13 University of Illinois in 1980; and 14 WHEREAS, E. Ann Chambliss has taught in Decatur Public 15 School District #61 since 1965; she was the recipient of a 16 Life Membership in the PTA of Washington School; she is a 17 member of the Alpha Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi, the Decatur 18 Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, and the Beta Sigma Chapter of 19 Delta Kappa Gamma; and 20 WHEREAS, She is a member of the Decatur Education 21 Association, the Illinois Education Association, and the 22 National Education Association, where she serves as Director 23 for Illinois; she is a member of the United Way Board of 24 Directors, the Partners in Education Board of Directors, the 25 YWCA Women of Excellence Steering Committee, the Decatur Day 26 Care Center Board of Directors, and the City of Decatur 27 Strategic Planning Committee; and 28 WHEREAS, E. Ann Chambliss is a member of St. Peter's 29 A.M.E. Church; she is a member of the Executive Committee of 30 the NAACP; she is the immediate past president of Certified 31 Teachers in Action; she is a member of the 32 Springfield-Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta -2- LRB9113893KBkb 1 Sorority, Inc.; and she is a member of the African-American 2 Community Roundtable; and 3 WHEREAS, E. Ann Chambliss will be celebrating her 4 retirement with her many friends and her son, Lemont; 5 therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 7 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 8 we congratulate E. Ann Chambliss on her retirement and extend 9 to her our best wishes for her future; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to E. Ann Chambliss.
