1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Marilyn Benedino, director of the Piatt County
6 Nursing Home (PCNH) will retire on June 2, 2000; and
7 WHEREAS, Marilyn Benedino joined PCNH in 1974 as director
8 of fiscal services, where she was responsible for accounting
9 and personnel management; in 1982 she assumed the position of
10 director; and
11 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Marilyn Benedino, PCNH
12 moved to a new building with 36 new beds, which is now the
13 Alzheimer's Unit; PCNH began offering services to the elderly
14 in the community and established Piatt County Services for
15 Seniors, helping those in need with services such as public
16 aid, Medicare, home-delivered meals, and energy assistance;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, Under her direction, PCNH established Faith in
19 Action, organizing and supporting volunteers from the
20 churches in Piatt County; PCNH set up the Piatt County
21 Nursing Home Foundation, raising money for the nursing home
22 and its many programs; and
23 WHEREAS, Marilyn Benedino helped establish a scholarship
24 program to pay tuition to nursing assistants to the R.N. and
25 L.P.N programs at Parkland College; and
26 WHEREAS, Marilyn Benedino and her husband, John, plan to
27 travel in their spare time; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we congratulate Marilyn Benedino on a job well done and wish

1 her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Marilyn Benedino.
