91_HR0842 LRB9114453ACtm 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Prescription medications have become 3 increasingly difficult for all senior citizens and disabled 4 persons to afford; and 5 WHEREAS, Congress has introduced a comprehensive senior 6 prescription drug plan in HR 4680, the Medicare Rx 2000 Act; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, The Medicare Rx 2000 Act will work in 9 conjunction with the State's recently expanded Circuit 10 Breaker program to ensure that all Illinois' seniors and 11 disabled persons are able to afford needed prescription 12 medications; and 13 WHEREAS, The Medicare Rx 2000 Act strengthens Medicare 14 and provides prescription drug coverage for all senior 15 citizens and disabled Americans; and 16 WHEREAS, The Medicare Rx 2000 Act focuses on 3 key 17 principles: coverage affordable for all, available for all, 18 and voluntary for all - regardless of income; and 19 WHEREAS, The Medicare Rx 2000 Act protects all senior 20 citizens and disabled Americans on 2 major fronts, it helps 21 them maintain their health by lowering drug prices and it 22 ensures that by capping high out-of-pocket drug costs they 23 are not robbed of their nest-egg in the face of serious 24 illness; therefore, be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 27 we urge the United States Congress to pass and the President 28 to sign the Medicare Rx 2000 Act; and be it further 29 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be delivered to 30 the President of the United States, the President pro tempore -2- LRB9114453ACtm 1 of the U.S. Senate, and the Speaker of the U.S. House of 2 Representatives.
