91_HR0861 LRB9114801KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones in the 4 lives of citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Gordon Johnson, President and C.E.O. of the Jane 6 Addams Hull House Association, retired on August 1, 2000; and 7 WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the Hull House budget and 8 staff have grown to oversee new programs; Mr. Johnson started 9 several programs, including Families For A Better Life, 10 Neighbor To Neighbor, and New Directions; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson served as Director of the Illinois 12 Department of Children & Family Services from 1983 to 1990; 13 Mr. Johnson has also served with the New York State 14 Department of Social Services, the Department of Public 15 Welfare in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the Department of 16 Housing and Urban Development in Miami, Florida, the Model 17 City Program in Miami, Florida, the Custer Job Corps Center 18 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the Sam A. Lewisohn Short Term 19 Adolescent Resident Training Center in New York, Tompkins 20 County Hospital in Ithaca, New York, the Austin McCormick 21 Rehabilitation Camp in New York, the Pennsylvania Department 22 of Public Welfare, and the Jamesburg State Home for Boys in 23 Jamesburg, New Jersey; and 24 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson received his education at Penn State 25 University and Rutgers School of Social Work; he is happily 26 married and has two children; therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 28 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 29 we congratulate Gordon Johnson on his retirement and wish him 30 a happy and healthy future; and be it further 31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be -2- LRB9114801KBkb 1 presented to Gordon Johnson.
