91_HR0936 LRB9115110KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to 4 the family and friends of Ben A. Borenstein, who recently 5 passed away; and 6 WHEREAS, Ben A. Borenstein was the founder and retired 7 chairman of the board of BABCO Construction Company in 8 Evanston, and the president of Ben A. Borenstein Consulting 9 Co. Ltd; and 10 WHEREAS, Ben A. Borenstein was past chairman of the board 11 and past general chairman of the State of Israel Bonds 12 Organization; he served on the boards of the Jewish National 13 Fund, the Friends of Israel Defense Forces, the American 14 Jewish Committee, the Chicago Loop Synagogue, the National 15 Conference of Christians and Jews, the Lake Shore Drive 16 Synagogue, the Cook County Hate Crimes Commission, and the 17 State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation/Real 18 Estate Administration and Disciplinary Board; he was also a 19 Silver Circle member of the Jewish United Fund; and 20 WHEREAS, Ben A. Borenstein was the recipient of the Civic 21 Leadership Award of the American Jewish Committee and the 22 State of Israel Bonds Prime Minister's Medal; and 23 WHEREAS, Ben A. Borenstein was an advisory board member 24 of the Academy of Performing and Visual Arts; he was a member 25 of the Builders Association of Chicago, the Associated 26 General Contractors of America, the Carpenters' Union, 27 Decalogue Lodge No. 160 of the Masons, the Medinah Shrine 28 Temple, and the Standard Club; and 29 WHEREAS, The passing of Ben A. Borenstein will be felt by 30 who knew him, especially his wife, Lee; his children, Barbara 31 Jean Johnson and Robin Blake Ettinger; his stepchildren, -2- LRB9115110KBkb 1 Jeffrey, Todd, and Robert Jacobs; and his friends and 2 colleagues; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Ben A. 6 Borenstein of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the family of Ben A. Borenstein.
