91_SB0262 LRB9101407ACcs 1 AN ACT to amend the Environmental Protection Act by 2 changing Section 8. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by 6 changing Section 8 as follows: 7 (415 ILCS 5/8) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 1008) 8 Sec. 8. Legislative findings and purpose. The General 9 Assembly finds that pollution of the air of this State 10 constitutes a menace to public health and welfare, creates 11 public nuisances, adds to cleaning costs, accelerates the 12 deterioration of materials, adversely affects agriculture, 13 business, industry, recreation, climate, and visibility, 14 depresses property values, and offends the senses. 15 It is the purpose of this Title to restore, maintain, and 16 enhance the purity of the air of this State in order to 17 protect health, welfare, property, and the quality of life 18 and to assure that no air contaminants are discharged into 19 the atmosphere without being given the degree of treatment or 20 control necessary to prevent pollution. 21 (Source: P.A. 76-2429.)
