1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Health Insurance Portability
2 and Accountability Act by changing Section 15.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Health Insurance Portability and
6 Accountability Act is amended by changing Section 15 as
7 follows:

9 Sec. 15. Applicability and scope. This Act applies to
10 all health insurance policies and all health service
11 contracts issued, renewed, or delivered for issuance or
12 renewal in this State by a health insurance issuer after July
13 1, 1997 the effective date of this Act. Unless otherwise
14 specifically provided by this Act, the standards and
15 requirements imposed by this Act shall supersede and replace
16 any and all conflicting, inconsistent or less restrictive
17 standards or requirements contained in the Illinois Insurance
18 Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, the Limited
19 Health Service Organization Act, and the Voluntary Health
20 Services Plans Act.
