1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by adding
2 Section 7-103.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 adding Section 7-103 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/7-103 new)
8 Sec. 7-103. Dangerous intersection study.
9 (a) The Department shall conduct an annual study of all
10 intersections throughout this State to determine the 100 most
11 dangerous intersections. The criteria the Department shall
12 use to determine the most dangerous intersections includes,
13 but is not limited to, the following:
14 (1) the number of motor vehicle accidents at each
15 intersection;
16 (2) the number of pedestrians injured at each
17 intersection;
18 (3) the number of deaths and the number of personal
19 injuries that occur as a result of an accident at each
20 intersection; and
21 (4) the number of motor vehicles and the number of
22 pedestrians that use each intersection on a daily
23 average.
24 (b) The Department shall, upon the conclusion of its
25 annual study to determine the 100 most dangerous
26 intersections in the State, report its findings of the 100
27 most dangerous intersections in the State to the Speaker of
28 the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate
29 and explain what measures the Department has taken to
30 ameliorate the problems at each intersection.
