91_SJ0003 LRB9101109KSks 1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 3 1911 in Tampico, Illinois, the son of Nellie and John Reagan; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, When he was 9 years of age, the family settled 6 in Dixon, Illinois, and at Dixon High School he played 7 football and basketball, ran track, served as president of 8 the student body, and first performed as an actor; and 9 WHEREAS, He graduated from Eureka College in 1932 with a 10 degree in economics and sociology; and 11 WHEREAS, From humble beginnings, he went on to become a 12 sportscaster, actor, Governor of California, and President of 13 the United States; and 14 WHEREAS, He was elected President of the United States in 15 1980; a favorite of the American populace, he was elected to 16 a second term in 1984; and 17 WHEREAS, Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th President of the 18 United States, warrants a public tribute as a son of 19 Illinois; therefore, be it 20 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF 22 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that the portions of 23 Illinois Routes 172 and 92 from Tampico to Illinois Route 26 24 and the portions of Illinois Route 26, Illinois Route 29, and 25 U.S. Route 24 from Dixon to Eureka are designated the Ronald 26 Reagan Trail; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation, 28 in accordance with applicable State and federal laws and 29 rules and in cooperation with units of local government, is 30 requested to erect appropriate signs, markers, or plaques -2- LRB9101109KSks 1 along the Trail in recognition of this designation; and be it 2 further 3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to 4 the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
