91_SR0131 LRB9106833CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Joseph M. Kerpan of North Chicago on Monday, 4 December 28, 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, He was born in St. Rok, Croatia, on December 12, 6 1913, and came to the United States in 1928; he attended 7 Bonnie Brook School in Waukegan; in the 1930s he was a member 8 of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Savannah; and 9 WHEREAS, He was the owner of the 1032 Club in North 10 Chicago and was later employed by Gold Seal and Sheridan 11 Liquors; he was a member of Union Local #3; and 12 WHEREAS, Joseph Kerpan had been an alderman in North 13 Chicago for 4 years and Democratic Precinct Committeeman for 14 22 years; he belonged to the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge 15 848, the North Chicago Seniors, and the American-Croatian 16 Waukegan Tamburitzans; and 17 WHEREAS, He was a member of Queen of Peace Parish and a 18 former member of Holy Family Parish in North Chicago; and 19 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 20 and friends, especially is wife of 58 years, Estelle; his 21 son, John; his daughter, Janet; his granddaughter, Kimberly 22 Wilkens; his great-grandsons, Adam and Kevin; his sister, 23 Amanda Wolf; and his brothers, Daniel, Michael, and Jack; 24 therefore, be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 27 and regret the death of Joseph M. Kerpan and extend our 28 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it 29 further 30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be -2- LRB9106833CBcb 1 presented to his widow, Estelle Kerpan.
