 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
 4    Mr. Leonard Hughes, who recently passed away; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Leonard  Hughes was born in Louisville (Winston
 6    County), Mississippi, on March 12, 1914; his parents were Mr.
 7    Richard Hughes and Mrs. Victoria (Smith) Hughes;  Mr.  Hughes
 8    married  Laura Peacock and they had seven children; his wife,
 9    Laura, passed away, and Mr. Hughes married Louisa Stewart  on
10    May 13, 1967; and

11        WHEREAS,  Leonard  Hughes attended Grind Branch School in
12    Winston County, Mississippi; he accepted Christ as his Savior
13    at an early age; Mr. Hughes was employed by Swift and Co.  in
14    National City, Illinois for 30 years; and

15        WHEREAS,  Leonard Hughes is survived by his wife, Louisa;
16    his sons, Billy (Claudia), Mitchell  (Marilyn),  Leonard  Jr.
17    (Francine),  Jerry,  and Timy; his daughters, Carroll (Danny)
18    Hubbard and Linda Hughes; his stepsons, Michael and Quincy B.
19    Murry;  his  stepdaughters,  Lencia  Franklin  and   Marcella
20    Brooks;   his   thirty-four   grandchildren;  his  twenty-two
21    great-grandchildren; his sisters, Elvira  Nunn  and  Isabella
22    Hughes; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
23    many friends; therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
25    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
26    his  family and friends, the death of Mr. Leonard Hughes; may
27    they find comfort and peace in this time of need; and  be  it
28    further

29        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
30    presented to the family of Leonard Hughes.
