91_SR0187 LRB9108970KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 extend their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of 4 Frances Killey, who recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Frances Ada Brent Killey was born in Warren 6 County on October 3, 1911; her parents were Frank Jesse and 7 Ada Flossie Savage Brent; on May 27, 1932 she married Ralph 8 A. Killey; and 9 WHEREAS, Frances Killey was a 1967 graduate of Monmouth 10 College; she taught at Willets Elementary School; she and her 11 husband farmed in Lennox Township until they moved to 12 Monmouth in 1992; and 13 WHEREAS, She was a member of the First United Methodist 14 Church of Monmouth; she served as president of the Women's 15 Society of Christian Service, as a Sunday school teacher, and 16 Official Board chairman; she had been a member of the 17 National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution 18 since 1940, holding local, State, and national offices; she 19 also held offices in the Children of the American Revolution; 20 and 21 WHEREAS, Frances Killey was a charter member of the 22 Warren County Republican Women's Club, serving as president 23 from 1971 to 1979; from 1982 to 1984 she was State president 24 of the Federation of Republican Women, and served as a 25 delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1980; she 26 served as president of the Monmouth Branch of the AAUW and 27 the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma; she was past 28 matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Roseville; and 29 WHEREAS, She was named Mother of the Year in 1964 by 30 American Mothers Inc., where she served as president from 31 1984 to 1986; in 1996 she received the Mary Linsey Award for -2- LRB9108970KBkb 1 helping mothers of young children and organizing a local 2 chapter of Mothers of Young Children; she was president of 3 the Warren County Home Bureau and Warren County Home 4 Extension; she was also a 51-year member of the PEO; and 5 WHEREAS, Frances Killey is survived by her husband, 6 Ralph; her daughter, Barbara (Ray) Hedberg; her son, Frank 7 (Barbara); her 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 8 and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 11 all who knew her, the death of Frances Killey of Monmouth, 12 Illinois; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to the family of Frances Killey.
