1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Westmont Mayor Edwin V. Burke, who
4 recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Edwin Burke was elected mayor of Westmont in
6 1997, after he had served 12 years as a village trustee; Mr.
7 Burke was a long-time member of the Community Party in
8 Westmont, but ran as an independent candidate in the 1995
9 elections; and
10 WHEREAS, Edwin Burke was a member of the Westmont
11 American Legion Post 338, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and
12 the Knights of Columbus; and
13 WHEREAS, Edwin Burke served with the United States
14 Marines, serving in Korea; and
15 WHEREAS, Mayor Edwin Burke is survived by his wife, Mary,
16 and his two brothers, Robert and Kevin; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 all that knew him, the death of Mayor Edwin Burke of
20 Westmont, Illinois; and be it further
21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the family of Edwin Burke, along with our
23 sincere regards.
