91_SR0304 LRB9113450CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Myrtle Perry of Chicago on February 17, 2000; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, Myrtle Baskin was born in Buena Vista, 6 Mississippi, the daughter of King and LaGusta Baskin; she 7 attended the Hope Zion School in Houston, Mississippi, and 8 the Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago after moving to 9 Chicago in 1940; and 10 WHEREAS, Myrtle and Zebedee Perry were united in holy 11 matrimony and shared a life together for almost 52 years; and 12 WHEREAS, Myrtle Perry was employed by Ohmite 13 Manufacturing Company and retired after 33 years of service; 14 after retirement, she worked for the Chicago public school 15 system; and 16 WHEREAS, She was an active member of the Bethsaida 17 Missionary Baptist Church; she was the creator and caretaker 18 of a breath-takingly beautiful garden, and a marvelous chef; 19 and 20 WHEREAS, Myrtle Perry loved her family, her friends, and 21 her church; she served God by caring for and giving to 22 others; and 23 WHEREAS, The passing of Myrtle Perry will be felt by her 24 family and friends, especially her husband, Zebedee; her 25 sisters, Ella Powell and Gloria McKay; and her nephews and 26 nieces, R. Alphonso Baskin, Marsha Lockwood, Deborah McKay, 27 Bernadette Thomas, Wayne King, Janet Mingo, Robert King, Mary 28 Hooper, and Linda Porter; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow -2- LRB9113450CBcb 1 and regret the death of Myrtle Perry and extend our sincere 2 condolences to her family and friends; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 4 presented to her husband, Zebedee Perry.
