1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Roy Lawrence Stanger, of Riverwoods,
4 Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Roy Stanger was a graduate of the University of
6 Illinois in Champaign, Illinois; he was an architect who
7 designed houses and redesigned the Village Hall of
8 Riverwoods; and
9 WHEREAS, Roy Stanger served as a village trustee from
10 1985 until his election to the office of mayor; as mayor he
11 oversaw the addition of water mains, twice-monthly big band
12 nights, and a community theater program; and
13 WHEREAS, Roy Stanger learned about small town politics
14 from his late father, a former Riverwoods building inspector
15 and village trustee, and his mother, who has served as the
16 village clerk for the last 15 years; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Stanger served as the Mayor of Riverwoods
18 from 1998 until his recent death; and
19 WHEREAS, Roy Lawrence Stanger is survived by his mother,
20 Eileen; his brothers, Robert (Marcia) and John (Kerry); his
21 sister, Barbara (James) Jamison; his 11 nieces and nephews;
22 his 12 grandnieces and a grandnephew; and his dear cousin,
23 Rita Gregory; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
26 all that knew and loved him, the death of Roy Lawrence
27 Stanger of Riverwoods, Illinois; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the mother of Roy Lawrence Stanger.
