91_SR0341 LRB9113745KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Ralph Hinger of Des Plaines, who recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Ralph Hinger was a native of Chicago's Logan 6 Square neighborhood; he was a center on the basketball team 7 at St. Philip High School, that won the city championship in 8 1945; and 9 WHEREAS, Ralph Hinger went on to the University of Notre 10 Dame after high school, but left to serve in the United 11 States Army; he returned to Notre Dame after his time of 12 service ended and graduated in 1950; and 13 WHEREAS, Ralph Hinger coached basketball at St. Vincent 14 High School in Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Bethlehem Community 15 Center in Chicago before being named head basketball coach at 16 St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, where he coached from 17 1955 to 1963; he went on to be named head basketball coach at 18 Notre Dame High School in Niles, where he coached from 1963 19 to 1977; he continued to teach physical education and assist 20 the athletic director until his retirement in 1988; and 21 WHEREAS, Ralph Hinger, as a basketball coach, was renown 22 for his gentlemanly and soft-spoken demeanor; he was a member 23 of the Chicago Catholic League Coaches Association Hall of 24 Fame and the Illinois High School Coaches Association 25 Basketball Hall of Fame; and 26 WHEREAS, Ralph Hinger also enjoyed the poetry of Robert 27 Service, reading mysteries and historical biographies, and 28 doing crossword puzzles; his passing will be felt by all 29 those that knew him, but especially by his wife, Marianne, 30 his daughter, Judy Borucki, and his sister, Dee Blicharski; 31 therefore, be it -2- LRB9113745KBkb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to extend 3 sympathy to the family and friends of Ralph Hinger of Des 4 Plaines, Illinois, at this time of loss; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to his wife, Mrs. Marianne Hinger.
