1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Leonard J. Surdyk who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Leonard J. Surdyk was born on August 2, 1931 and
6 had resided in Palos Heights for the past 37 years; and
7 WHEREAS, Leonard J. Surdyk was elected to the office of
8 Palos Township Assessor in January 1990; and
9 WHEREAS, Leonard J. Surdyk attended the American
10 Institute of Real Estate Appraisers; he received his
11 certification from the Illinois Property Assessment
12 Institute; he was certified as a Real Estate Appraiser and as
13 an Illinois Assessing Officer; he held licenses as a Real
14 Estate Broker and as an Insurance Broker; and
15 WHEREAS, Leonard J. Surdyk's was employed by the Cook
16 County Assessors office in Chicago beginning in 1981, where
17 he worked as a Field Appraiser; he then went on to Ameristar
18 Financial Corporation in Schaumburg, Illinois in 1986, where
19 he was a Staff Appraiser; he moved on to Surdyk Realty
20 Company in Palos Heights from 1990 to the present, where he
21 served as past President of the Southwest Realty Board and as
22 a director of the Chicago Real Estate Board Region 4 for 3
23 years; and
24 WHEREAS, The passing of Leonard J. Surdyk will be deeply
25 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 43
26 years, Carmella Surdyk; his loving children, Leonard Steven,
27 Carmella A., and Jeffrey John; his grandchildren, Scott
28 Steven, Abra, Shannon, and Cameron; and his many friends,
29 colleagues and employees; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

1 all who knew him, the death of Leonard J. Surdyk of Palos
2 Heights, Illinois; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Leonard J. Surdyk.
