Increases the number of signatures required on a petition for nomination of a candidate for judicial office from 500 to 1,000. Effective immediately. FISCAL NOTE (State Board of Elections) HB758 would have minimal fiscal impact on Board operations. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Replaces the substantive amendatory changes in the bill. Provides that the number of signatures required on a petition for nomination as a candidate for judicial office is 0.25% of the number of votes for the judicial candidate of his or her political party who received the highest number of votes at the last regular general election at which a judicial officer from the same district, circuit, or subcircuit was regularly scheduled to be elected, but not less 500 signatures.
