CROSS-HASSERT-KOSEL. (PHILIP) 105 ILCS 5/10-21.9 from Ch. 122, par. 10-21.9 105 ILCS 5/34-18.5 from Ch. 122, par. 34-18.5 Amends the the School Code. Provides that the criminal background investigation of applicants for employment with a school district shall ascertain whether an applicant has been convicted of a felony or Class A misdemeanor under the laws of this State or has been convicted of any offense committed or attempted in any other State or against the laws of the United States, which, if committed or attempted in this State, would have been punishable as a felony or a Class A misdemeanor (now, offenses are specified). Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Adds reference to: 70 ILCS 1205/8-23 new 70 ILCS 1505/16a-5 new Deletes everything. Amends the Park District Code, the Chicago Park District Act, and the School Code. Requires an applicant for employment with a park district, as a condition of employment, to authorize an investigation, by the Department of State Police, to determine if the applicant has been convicted of any of certain enumerated criminal or drug offenses or any other felony. Prohibits a park district from knowingly employing a person who has been convicted of any one or more of the enumerated offenses or from knowingly employing a person for whom a criminal background investigation has not been initiated. In addition to the convictions for specified offenses that a criminal background investigation of an applicant for employment with a school district is currently required to ascertain, requires the investigation to ascertain whether the applicant has been convicted of any other felony.
