SCHOENBERG. New Act 30 ILCS 105/5.541 new Amends the State Finance Act. Creates the Tobacco Settlement Biomedical Research Fund. Creates the Investment of Tobacco Settlement Proceeds Act. Provides that a portion of the proceeds received by the State from a tobacco settlement shall be deposited into the Tobacco Settlement Biomedical Research Fund. Provides that moneys in the fund shall be distributed to universities with medical schools in this State and used by those universities for programs relating to tobacco-related illness research.
