SMITH-GEO-KARIS. (BROSNAHAN-FLOWERS-JONES,LOU-GASH-SCOTT) 705 ILCS 305/10.2 from Ch. 78, par. 10.2 Amends the Jury Act. Provides that a parent or guardian of a child under 12 years of age or of a child with a physical or mental handicap or with a behavior problem shall be excused from jury service unless reimbursement for day care and other costs is provided by the county. Provides that a public official or employee who violates these provisions is guilty of a Class 3 felony. Effective July 1, 1999. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes the substance of the bill. Deletes the criminal penalties for officials who fail to comply with the provisions of the bill.
