House Sponsors: HOLBROOK. Short description: CRIM CD-TOBACCO-PRISON CONTRA Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that cigarettes and tobacco products are contraband items that may not be brought into or possessed in a prison or penitentiary. Provides that violation is a Class A misdemeanor. Provides that delivery of contraband cigarettes or tobacco products to an inmate by an employee of the penal institution is a Class A misdemeanor. Establishes exemptions for prisoners performing duties in correctional industries programs and for employees of penal institutions. FISCAL NOTE (Criminal Justice Information Authority) HB 103 will not have a fiscal impact on the Authority.
