Short description: CRIM CD-DEATH PENALTY Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that for one year from the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1999 no execution of a defendant may take place. Creates a commission on the death penalty to study the law that provides for the death penalty and the administration of the death penalty. Provides that the commission must report to the General Assembly within 8 months from the effective date of this amendatory Act. Effective immediately.
