House Sponsors: RYDER. Senate Sponsors: DILLARD Short description: CIV PRO-DEPOSIT-INTEREST Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that in an action in which the relief sought is a money judgment and a party deposits the moneys with the clerk of the court to satisfy the judgment, the interest earned on these funds must be deposited in the county general fund as earnings of the office (now the court must direct disposition of the interest accrued to the parties as it deems appropriate). Permits the court to direct the clerk to invest the funds in a specific certificate of deposit or bank passbook savings account in the name of the clerk. Provides that moneys held by the clerk as bail bond may not be directed by the court to be placed in a specific certificate of deposit or bank passbook savings account. Effective immediately.
