Short description: IDPA-TANF-CHILD CARE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code in relation to child care benefits for recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Provides that it is the General Assembly's intent that, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, to the extent resources permit, the Department of Human Services shall establish an income eligibility threshold of 60% of the State median income. (Under current law, the intent is that for fiscal year 1998 the income eligibility be 50% of the State median income.) Provides that families already receiving child care assistance on July 1, 1997 shall remain eligible for that assistance (rather than remain eligible for fiscal year 1998). Effective immediately.
