House Sponsors: HANNIG-CROSS. Short description: VEH CD-IGNITION INTERLOCK Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code and the State Finance Act. Adds numerous requirements and makes various changes concerning the Secretary of State's Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program. Requires participation by specified persons arrested for, or convicted of, DUI violations. Provides that the monthly fee charged to individuals who have an ignition interlock device installed under this Program shall include an additional $30 monthly fee. Of the additional $30 monthly fee, provides that $10 shall be deposited into the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program Administration Fund, a special fund that is created in the State treasury, and $20 shall be deposited into the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program Indigent Participant Fund, a special fund that is created in the State treasury. Provides that moneys in the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program Administration Fund shall be used to administer the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program, and moneys in the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Program Indigent Participant Fund shall be used to purchase ignition interlock devices for offenders found by the court to be indigent.
