House Sponsors: GRANBERG. Short description: CON AMEND-EXCISE TX-HIGHWAYS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Proposes to amend the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that revenue from excise taxes imposed on motor fuel must be used exclusively for the construction and maintenance of State highways, payment of principal and interest on bonds issued for the construction and maintenance of State highways, acquisition of real property and rights-of-way for State highways, and public transportation. Provides that these tax revenues may be loaned to another fund under certain repayment requirements. Effective July 1, 2002.
