Senate Sponsors: LINK. House Sponsors: GASH-GARRETT Short description: SCH CD-MILITARY-DISSOLVE DIST Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code. Under provisions of the School Code allowing territory located within a military base or installation operated and maintained by the United States government to be detached from a school district to create a new school district, provides that if the new district has not elected a school board and has not become operational within 2 years after the date of detachment, then the district is automatically dissolved and the territory of the district reverts to the school district from which the territory was detached. Provides that if the district was created on or before September 1, 1996 and has not elected a school board and has not been operational since September 1, 1996, then the district is automatically dissolved on the effective date of this amendatory Act, and on this date the territory of the district reverts to the school district from which the territory was detached. Requires the regional superintendent of schools to certify to the regional board of school trustees that the district has been automatically dissolved. Effective immediately. FISCAL NOTE (State Board of Education) No fiscal impact at the State level; impact at the local level would be for North Shore Sch.
