1 AN ACT concerning unemployment insurance.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended by
5 adding Section 232.2 as follows:
6 (820 ILCS 405/232.2 new)
7 Sec. 232.2. Sports referees. The term "employment" does
8 not include services performed by a person as a referee of
9 an amateur sporting event employed by an organization exempt
10 from federal income taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the
11 federal Internal Revenue Code and who is paid gross annual
12 compensation not exceeding $5,000 for those services.
13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14 becoming law.
