Amend House Bill 577 as follows: 3 on page 2, in line 10, by replacing "Public Health" with 4 "Professional Regulation"; and 5 on page 2, in line 11, by replacing "Public Health" with 6 "Professional Regulation"; and 7 on page 2, before line 23, by inserting the following: 8 ""Approved program of midwifery education" means a 9 direct-entry midwifery educational program that is accredited 10 by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Counsel or its 11 successor."; and 12 on page 4, by replacing lines 3 through 5 with the following: 13 "(5) Midwifery which is included in the educational 14 programs of student midwives enrolled in approved 15 programs of midwifery education."; and 16 on page 4, in line 11, by replacing "Public" with 17 "Professional"; and 18 on page 4, in line 12, by replacing "Health," with 19 "Regulation,"; and 20 on page 6, by replacing lines 11 through 24 with the -2- LRB9201418LBpcam 1 following: 2 "Section 50. Eligibility. 3 (a) A person is eligible to be licensed as a midwife if 4 that person meets the following qualifications: 5 (1) has no less than a high school diploma or its 6 equivalent; 7 (2) has completed an approved program of midwifery 8 education; 9 (3) holds the credential of Certified Professional 10 Midwife; 11 (4) is in good standing with the North American 12 Registry of Midwives; 13 (5) is at least 21 years of age; 14 (6) participates in peer review at least twice per 15 year; and 16 (7) provides the Department with an annually 17 updated informed consent document. 18 (b) Prior to July 1, 2003, an individual who meets all 19 eligibility requirements in subsection (a) of this Section, 20 with the exception of item (2) of subsection (a) of this 21 Section, shall be considered eligible to be licensed as a 22 midwife.".
