The University of Illinois Act is amended by 5 changing Section 7f as follows: 6 (110 ILCS 305/7f) (from Ch. 144, par. 28f) 7 Sec. 7f. Full tuition discountPartial tuition waivers. 8 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 9 university" means any of the following: the University of 10 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 11 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 12 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 13 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 14 Illinois University. 15 (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of the University of 16 Illinois shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition17waiversfor undergraduate education at any campus under its 18 governance or supervision to the children of employees, 19 including retired employees, of an Illinois college or 20 university who have been employed by any one or by more than 21 one Illinois college or university for an aggregate period of 22 at least 7 years. For purposes of this Section, an employee 23 of an Illinois college or university is deemed to include a 24 person who is employed within any of the 4 divisions of the 25 Department of Natural Resources under the authority of the 26 Board of Natural Resources and Conservation (Waste Management 27 and Research Center, Illinois State Water Survey, Illinois 28 State Geological Survey, and Illinois State Natural History 29 Survey). "Retired employee" means a person receiving a 30 retirement or disability retirement annuity under the 31 Illinois Pension Code based on at least 7 years of service HB0901 Engrossed -2- LRB9203784NTsb 1 with one or more than one Illinois college or university, 2 including a person who already is receiving such an annuity 3 on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 92nd 4 General Assembly. To be eligible to receive a full tuition 5 discountpartial tuition waiver, the child of any suchan6 employee of an Illinois college or university (i) must be 7 under the age of 25 at the commencement of the academic year 8 during which the full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver9 is to be effective, and (ii) must qualify for admission to 10 the University of Illinois under the same admissions 11 requirements, standards and policies which the University of 12 Illinois applies to applicants for admission generally to its 13 respective undergraduate colleges and programs. 14 (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of 15 subsection (b), an eligible applicant who has continued to 16 maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may 17 have his or her full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver18 renewed until the time as he or she has expended 4 years of 19 undergraduate full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver20 benefits under this Section. 21 (d) No full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver22 offered or allocated to any eligible applicant in accordance 23 with the provisions of this Section shall be charged against 24 any tuition waiver limitation established by the Illinois 25 Board of Higher Education. 26 (e) The Board of Trustees shall prescribe rules and 27 regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the 28 provisions of this Section. 29 (Source: P.A. 90-282, eff. 1-1-98.) 30 Section 10. The Chicago State University Law is amended 15 by changing Section 5-90 as follows: 16 (110 ILCS 660/5-90) 17 Sec. 5-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition18waivers. 19 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 20 university" means any of the following: the University of 21 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 22 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 23 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 24 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 25 Illinois University. 26 (b) Each year the Board of Chicago State University 27 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor 28 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to 29 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 30 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 31 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 32 aggregate period of at least 7 years. "Retired employee" 19 means a person receiving a retirement or disability 20 retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on 21 at least 7 years of service with one or more than one 22 Illinois college or university, including a person who 23 already is receiving such an annuity on the effective date of 24 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly. The Governors State University Law is 19 amended by changing Section 15-90 as follows: 20 (110 ILCS 670/15-90) 21 Sec. 15-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition22waivers. 23 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 24 university" means any of the following: the University of 25 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 26 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 27 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 28 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 29 Illinois University. 30 (b) Each year the Board of Governors State University 31 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor 32 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to HB0901 Engrossed -8- LRB9203784NTsb 1 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 2 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 3 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 4 aggregate period of at least 7 years. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is 23 amended by changing Section 25-90 as follows: 24 (110 ILCS 680/25-90) 25 Sec. 25-90. The Northern Illinois University Law is 8 amended by changing Section 30-90 as follows: 9 (110 ILCS 685/30-90) 10 Sec. 30-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition11waivers. 12 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 13 university" means any of the following: the University of 14 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 15 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 16 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 17 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 18 Illinois University. 19 (b) Each year the Board of Northern Illinois University 20 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor 21 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to 22 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 23 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 24 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 25 aggregate period of at least 7 years. The Western Illinois University Law is 27 amended by changing Section 35-90 as follows: 28 (110 ILCS 690/35-90) 29 Sec. 35-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition30waivers. 31 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 32 university" means any of the following: the University of HB0901 Engrossed -14- LRB9203784NTsb 1 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 2 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 3 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 4 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 5 Illinois University. 6 (b) Each year the Board of Western Illinois University 7 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor 8 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to 9 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 10 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 11 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 12 aggregate period of at least 7 years. "Retired employee" 13 means a person receiving a retirement or disability 14 retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on 15 at least 7 years of service with one or more than one 16 Illinois college or university, including a person who 17 already is receiving such an annuity on the effective date of 18 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly.
