92_HB1889eng HB1889 Engrossed LRB9200925JSpcB 1 AN ACT concerning insurance coverage. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by 5 adding Section 356z.1 as follows: 6 (215 ILCS 5/356z.1 new) 7 Sec. 356z.1 Coverage of medical services ancillary to 8 dental services for the disabled. An individual or group 9 policy of accident and health insurance amended, delivered, 10 issued, or renewed after the effective date of this 11 amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly that covers 12 hospital and medical expenses may not deny coverage for 13 hospital and medical expenses incurred by an insured disabled 14 person when those hospital and medical expenses are incurred, 15 due to the nature of the disability, in conjunction with 16 dental services. Disabled persons eligible for reimbursement 17 include persons with dental conditions who in the opinion of 18 the dentist cannot be successfully treated by the use of 19 conventional management procedures because of the person's 20 physical, mental, developmental, or psychological condition, 21 including children under the age of 7. Nothing in this 22 Section requires that the dental services be covered.
