92_HB2149 LRB9206164MWdvA 1 AN ACT concerning voter registration. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section 5 1A-16 as follows: 6 (10 ILCS 5/1A-16 new) 7 Sec. 1A-16. Voter registration information; Internet 8 posting. The State Board of Elections must post on its World 9 Wide Web site the following information: 10 (1) A full description of the National Voter 11 Registration Act of 1993, including a description of how 12 the Act is implemented in Illinois. 13 (2) A comprehensive list of the names, addresses, 14 phone numbers, and websites, if applicable, of all county 15 clerks, election officials, and boards of election 16 commissioners in Illinois. 17 (3) A downloadable, printable voter registration 18 form, in English and in Spanish, that a citizen may 19 complete and mail to the appropriate county clerk, 20 election official, or board of election commissioners. 21 Any forms provided under this paragraph (3) must 22 prominently inform the person using the form that he or 23 she must cast his or her votes in person, whether or not 24 the person is voting by absentee ballot, the first time 25 the person votes following his or her registration by 26 mail. 27 Section 10. The Secretary of State Act is amended by 28 adding Section 14 as follows: 29 (15 ILCS 305/14 new) -2- LRB9206164MWdvA 1 Sec. 14. Voter registration information. The Secretary 2 of State must post on the World Wide Web site of the Office 3 of the Secretary of State the following information: 4 (1) A full description of the National Voter 5 Registration Act of 1993, including a description of how 6 the Act is implemented in Illinois. 7 (2) A comprehensive list of the names, addresses, 8 phone numbers, and websites, if applicable, of all county 9 clerks, election officials, and boards of election 10 commissioners in Illinois. 11 (3) A downloadable, printable voter registration 12 form, in English and in Spanish, that a citizen may 13 complete and mail to the appropriate county clerk, 14 election official, or board of election commissioners. 15 Any forms provided under this paragraph (3) must 16 prominently inform the person using the form that he or 17 she must cast his or her votes in person, whether or not 18 the person is voting by absentee ballot, the first time 19 the person votes following his or her registration by 20 mail. 21 The required information may be obtained from the State 22 Board of Elections. 23 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 24 becoming law.
