1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 adding Section 6-108.1 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/6-108.1 new)
7 Sec. 6-108.1. Withholding of a minor's license;
8 non-renewal of a minor's permit.
9 (a) The Secretary may not issue a driver's license to,
10 and may not renew the instruction permit of, any person
11 younger than 18 years of age against whom charges are
12 pending, under this Code or the Criminal Code of 1961,
13 arising out of an accident in which the person was involved
14 as a driver and that caused the death of or injury to another
15 person.
16 (b) The Secretary must adopt rules for implementing this
17 Section.
18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
19 January 1, 2002.
