92_HB2258 LRB9207342NTsb 1 AN ACT concerning the Illinois commemorative quarter. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 5 Illinois Commemorative Quarter Act. 6 Section 5. Purpose. Under the State Quarters Program, 7 the United States Mint is to issue a quarter in 2003 with an 8 Illinois design to adorn the reverse side. The Governor is 9 in charge of officially selecting the design. This Act 10 governs which design is selected. 11 Section 10. Selection of design. The Governor shall 12 submit 5 design concepts to the United States Mint. After 13 the United States Mint has created the designs and returned 14 them to the State for the final selection process, the State 15 Board of Education shall implement a voting system in which 16 all students in this State in kindergarten through 12th grade 17 are given the opportunity to vote to choose which of the 5 18 designs is to be the final design officially selected by the 19 Governor. The Governor shall officially select as the final 20 design whichever design receives the most votes and shall 21 submit this design to the United States Secretary of the 22 Treasury for final endorsement. 23 Section 90. Rules. The State Board of Education may 24 adopt any rules necessary to carry out its responsibilities 25 under this Act. 26 Section 95. Repealer.
