92_HB2592 LRB9202309LBmg 1 AN ACT in relation to the regulation of professions. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Dental Practice Act is amended 5 by changing Section 8.1 as follows: 6 (225 ILCS 25/8.1) (from Ch. 111, par. 2308.1) 7 Sec. 8.1. Permits for administration of general 8 anesthesia or parenteral conscious sedation. No licensed 9 dentist shall administer general anesthesia or parenteral 10 conscious sedation without first applying for and obtaining a 11 permit for such purpose from the Department. The Department 12 shall issue such permit only after ascertaining that the 13 applicant possesses the minimum qualifications necessary to 14 protect public safety. A person with a dental degree who 15 administers anesthesia or parenteral conscious sedation in an 16 approved hospital training program under the supervision of 17 either a licensed dentist holding such permit or a physician 18 licensed to practice medicine in all its branches shall not 19 be required to obtain such permit. 20 (Source: P.A. 89-80, eff. 6-30-95; 89-116, eff. 7-7-95.)
