1 AN ACT concerning sex offender registration.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Sex Offender Registration Act is amended
5 by changing Section 9 as follows:
6 (730 ILCS 150/9) (from Ch. 38, par. 229)
7 Sec. 9. Public inspection of registration data data.
8 Except as provided in the Sex Offender and Child Murderer
9 Community Notification Law, the statements or any other
10 information required by this Article shall not be open to
11 inspection by the public, or by any person other than by a
12 law enforcement officer or other individual as may be
13 authorized by law and shall include law enforcement agencies
14 of this State, any other state, or of the federal government.
15 Similar information may be requested from any law enforcement
16 agency of another state or of the federal government for
17 purposes of this Act. It is a Class B misdemeanor to permit
18 the unauthorized release of any information required by this
19 Article.
