1 AN ACT in relation to health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5 Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6 amended by adding Section 2310-62 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 2310/2310-62 new)
8 Sec. 2310-62. Analysis and reporting of data.
9 (a) The Department shall analyze data that are routinely
10 collected by the State (whether collected on the State's
11 initiative, or as part of a nationwide process) and that
12 concern matters related to the public health. These matters
13 include, but are not limited to, deaths, injuries, crimes,
14 health conditions and parameters, periodic surveys, and the
15 provision of health and social services. In the alternative,
16 the Department may facilitate the analysis of such data by
17 others.
18 (b) The Department shall submit an annual report of the
19 results of the analysis conducted under subsection (a) to the
20 Governor, the General Assembly, appropriate State agencies,
21 county and other local health departments, and the general
22 public.
23 (c) In its reports to the Governor and the General
24 Assembly under subsection (b), the Department shall include
25 recommendations for changes in legislation or other policy,
26 based on the results of the analysis conducted under
27 subsection (a), designed to improve the health of the
28 population of, or identifiable subpopulations in, Illinois.
