92_HB3350 LRB9202769MWsb 1 AN ACT concerning townships. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing 5 Section 5-55 as follows: 6 (60 ILCS 1/5-55) 7 Sec. 5-55. Duplicate township names. If the Secretary of 8 State, on comparing the abstracts of the reports from the 9 several counties, finds that any 2 or more townships are 10 named alike, he or she shall so inform the clerk of the 11 county thatwhichlast adopted the name. The county board of 12 that county shall, at its next meeting, adopt for the 13 township some different name. When the name is adopted, the 14 county clerk shall inform the Secretary of State as provided 15 in Section 5-50. 16 (Source: P.A. 82-783; 88-62.)
