92_HB3629enr HB3629 Enrolled LRB9209128DHmb 1 AN ACT concerning vehicles. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding 5 Section 5.545 as follows: 6 (30 ILCS 105/5.545 new) 7 Sec. 5.545. The Hospice Fund. 8 Section 10. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 9 adding Section 3-648 as follows: 10 (625 ILCS 5/3-648 new) 11 Sec. 3-648. Hospice license plates. 12 (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made 13 in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may issue special 14 registration plates designated as Hospice license plates. 15 The special plates issued under this Section shall be affixed 16 only to passenger vehicles of the first division and motor 17 vehicles of the second division weighing not more than 8,000 18 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall expire 19 according to the multi-year procedure established by Section 20 3-414.1 of this Code. 21 (b) The color of the plates is wholly within the 22 discretion of the Secretary. The design of the plates shall 23 include the word "Hospice" above drawings of two lilies and a 24 butterfly. The Secretary may allow the plates to be issued as 25 vanity plates or personalized under Section 3-405.1 of the 26 Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or decals as 27 provided under Section 3-412 of this Code. 28 (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged 29 a $25 fee for original issuance in addition to the HB3629 Enrolled -2- LRB9209128DHmb 1 appropriate registration fee. Of this fee, $10 shall be 2 deposited into the Hospice Fund and $15 shall be deposited 3 into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be 4 used by the Secretary to help defray the administrative 5 processing costs. 6 For each registration renewal period, a $25 fee, in 7 addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be 8 charged. Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the 9 Hospice Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of 10 State Special License Plate Fund. 11 (d) The Hospice Fund is created as a special fund in the 12 State treasury. All money in the Hospice Fund shall be paid, 13 subject to appropriation by the General Assembly and approval 14 by the Secretary, to the Department of Public Health for 15 distribution as grants for hospice services as defined in the 16 Hospice Program Licensing Act. The Director of Public Health 17 shall adopt rules for the distribution of these grants.
