92_HB5206 LRB9211808DJgc 1 AN ACT in relation to mental health. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Community Support Systems Act is amended 5 by changing Section 3 as follows: 6 (405 ILCS 35/3) (from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 1103) 7 Sec. 3. Funding of special initiatives. 8 (a) The Department may establish special funding 9 initiatives to accomplish a variety of objectives related to 10 the development of community support systems. Any funds 11 appropriated by the General Assembly for any of these special 12 initiatives shall be expended only for the stated purpose. 13 (1) The Department may fund innovative community 14 support system components on a pilot project basis. The 15Suchfunding shall be on a start-up basis, and shall 16 include requirements for evaluation of program 17 effectiveness. Continuation funding for program 18 components developed in this way shall be based on 19 demonstrated effectiveness. 20 (2) The Department may fund selected pilot projects 21 to investigate key issues or problems encountered in 22 development, planning and implementation of community 23 support systems. TheSuchfunding shall include monies 24 for research and evaluation of pilot project components. 25 (3) The Department may provide continuing research 26 and evaluation funding grants for community support 27 systems established or enhanced through pilot projects 28 funded pursuant to Section 16.2 of the Mental Health and 29 Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act, or as 30 provided herein, after the period of program component 31 funding has elapsed.
