92_HB5602eng HB5602 Engrossed LRB9214828RCcd 1 AN ACT in relation to criminal law. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 5 changing Section 21-6 as follows: 6 (720 ILCS 5/21-6) (from Ch. 38, par. 21-6) 7 Sec. 21-6. Unauthorized Possession or Storage of Weapons. 8 (a) Whoever possesses or stores any weapon enumerated in 9 Section 33A-1 in any building or on land supported in whole 10 or in part with public funds or in any building on such land 11 without prior written permission from the chief security 12 officer for such land or building commits a Class A 13 misdemeanor. 14 (a-5) Whoever possesses a BB gun, pellet gun, air gun, or 15 any device manufactured and designed to be substantially 16 similar in appearance to a firearm in a school building, 17 school bus, or real estate comprising a school without prior 18 written permission from the chief security officer for that 19 school commits a Class A misdemeanor. 20 (b) The chief security officer must grant any reasonable 21 request for permission under paragraph (a) or (a-5). 22 (Source: P.A. 89-685, eff. 6-1-97.)
