1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5812
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 5812 on page 2, by
3 replacing lines 7 through 18 with the following:
4 "Sec. 65.70. Loan repayment for teachers. On or before
5 July 1, 2003, the Commission shall implement a loan repayment
6 program for students enrolled in a course of study leading to
7 teacher certification at an institution of higher learning
8 who agree to teach in a school on the academic watch list
9 under Section 2-3.25d of the School Code for a specified
10 period of time. Under this program, $1,000 of a student's
11 higher education loans shall be forgiven for each year of
12 teaching, up to a maximum of $5,000. The Commission may adopt
13 any rules necessary to carry out its responsibilities under
14 this Section.".
