1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are
3 pleased to recognize milestone events in the history of
4 organizations that serve the citizens of the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, The Chicago Association of Realtors, Inc. and
7 its corporate predecessors have been an active real estate
8 association in Illinois since 1883 when the Chicago Real
9 Estate Board was founded on January 11, 1883; and
10 WHEREAS, The Chicago Association of Realtors, Inc. played
11 a key role in the establishment of both the National
12 Association of Real Estate Boards, the predecessor to the
13 National Association of Realtors, in 1908, and the Real
14 Estate Association of Illinois, the predecessor to the
15 Illinois Association of Realtors, in 1916; and
16 WHEREAS, The Chicago Association of Realtors, Inc.
17 services nearly 8,600 members and is the third largest local
18 real estate board in the country; and
19 WHEREAS, The Chicago Association of Realtors, Inc. was
20 one of the first real estate associations in the United
21 States to form an international chapter and has entered into
22 Ambassador Agreements with several countries, including
23 Poland, Ireland, and the Czech Republic; and
24 WHEREAS, The members of The Chicago Association of
25 Realtors, Inc. and their offices are located and serve in,
26 among other places, the City of Chicago and in each of the
27 six collar counties; and
28 WHEREAS, The members of The Chicago Association of
29 Realtors, Inc. provide diverse and specialized services in
30 the City of Chicago and the six collar county area in the
31 fields of appraisals; buyer brokerage; commercial,

1 industrial, and retail development; consulting services;
2 estates; foreclosures; international affairs; investments;
3 leasing; luxury homes; property management; and property
4 rehabilitation; and
5 WHEREAS, In addition to the unmatched array of member
6 programs, products and services that The Chicago Association
7 of Realtors, Inc. provides to its members, the Association
8 also owns and operates the REALTORS Real Estate School and
9 the Real Estate Education Company to provide critical real
10 estate continuing education resources to real estate
11 professionals in Chicago and the surrounding Illinois and
12 Indiana counties; and
13 WHEREAS, The Chicago Association of Realtors, Inc. also
14 owns and operates the Real Mark flyer distribution service
15 which provides real estate information on a daily basis to
16 real estate professionals in Chicago and all parts of
17 northern Illinois; and
18 WHEREAS, The Chicago Association of Realtors", Inc. has
19 for many years developed and distributed uniform lease and
20 other common real estate forms that are used and relied on by
21 real estate professionals in Chicago and throughout Illinois;
22 and
23 WHEREAS, Beyond the services it provides to its members
24 and real estate professionals, The Chicago Association of
25 Realtors", Inc. has advocated on local, regional, state, and
26 federal issues relating to the protection of private property
27 rights and consumers, seller disclosure initiatives, and
28 against undue taxation; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
31 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we honor The Chicago
32 Association of Realtors, Inc. and its members as the

1 Association enters its 120th year of providing real estate
2 services to real estate professionals from Chicago and around
3 the State of Illinois; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to The Chicago Association of Realtors", Inc. as an
6 expression of our esteem.
