1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Pietro Alfano of Ottawa, Illinois, will celebrate the
8 fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Pietro and Phyllis were united in holy matrimony
10 on January 25, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois; and
11 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Procopio,
12 Anthony, Joseph, Salvatore, Josephine, Lena, Sontina, and
13 Francesca; and the grandparents of 32 wonderful
14 grandchildren; and
15 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
16 highest plateaus when a couple such as Pietro and Phyllis
17 Alfano celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
18 WHEREAS, On Monday, February 26, 2001, Pietro and Phyllis
19 Alfano will renew their marital vows at St. Columba Church in
20 Ottawa, Illinois, accompanied by their children, relatives
21 and friends; and
22 WHEREAS, Pietro and Phyllis Alfano stand as examples of
23 the best of our society, and their love and devotion to each
24 other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to
25 all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a
26 difference in today's world; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate Pietro and Phyllis Alfano on the occasion of
30 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for

1 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
2 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
3 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
4 further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
