92_HR0080 LRB9208002KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, St. Matthew's Parish in Schaumburg, Illinois, is 3 celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2001; and 4 WHEREAS, On March 1, 1975, the first Mass was celebrated 5 at Meinke Recreation Center; in June of 1975 weekend Masses 6 began at Collins School; in September of 1975 Religious 7 Education classes began; and on December 3, 1976, a 8 ground-breaking ceremony was held for the ten acre campus 9 that would become home to St. Matthew's Parish; in November 10 of 1977 the Worship Center (now the Hughes Center), the 11 Rectory, and parking areas were completed; in April of 1985 12 the new Parish Center was started due to church growth; and 13 WHEREAS, On March 21, 1976 Father Ed Hughes was 14 officially appointed Pastor of St. Matthew's Parish; on June 15 30, 1994 Father Hughes retired and became Pastor Emeritus; on 16 June 20, 1994 Associate Pastor Father Joe Wilk was named the 17 new Pastor of St. Matthew's Parish; and 18 WHEREAS, The success of St. Matthew's Parish would not be 19 possible without the efforts and good will of its thousands 20 of parishoners, both past and present; and 21 WHEREAS, St. Matthew's Parish will celebrate their 22 twenty-fifth anniversary throughout the year; therefore, be 23 it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 25 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 26 we congratulate the parishoners of St. Matthew's Parish as 27 they celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary; and we wish 28 them continued good fortune as they continue to serve God in 29 their community; and be it further 30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 31 presented to St. Matthew's Parish.
