92_HR0082 LRB9207803RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are honored to recognize acts of heroism by a 4 citizen of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, It was the quick action of Brandon Pope, who 6 used a People Against Violent Environments emergency cellular 7 phone to dial 911, that is credited with helping save his 8 mother's life; and 9 WHEREAS, Brandon Pope is five years of age and hails from 10 Centralia, Illinois; he is a student at the Centralia City 11 Schools' Field School Kindergarten Center in Centralia; and 12 WHEREAS, On February 7, 2001, Brandon Pope's mother, 13 Sandy, suffered a seizure and passed out; Brandon activated 14 his mother's "Call to Protect Program" cellular phone to dial 15 911, which resulted in saving his mother's life; and 16 WHEREAS, Brandon credits his knowledge of the cellular 17 phone to watching his older sister use her cellular phone; 18 and 19 WHEREAS, Sandy Pope has a very special hero in her son 20 Brandon; it was his quick actions that has given him the 21 title "Hero" by his mother; therefore, be it 22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 23 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 24 we honor Brandon Pope for his acts of heroism that helped 25 save the life of his mother, Sandy Pope; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 27 presented to Brandon Pope as an expression of our esteem.
