92_HR0089 LRB9207529RHrh 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in 4 the history of organizations in the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, The Society for the Preservation of Human 6 Dignity celebrates its 30th anniversary on April 21, 2001; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, The Society for the Preservation of Human 9 Dignity was incorporated in the State of Illinois on April 10 21, 1971 by founder Marion Stocker; it is the oldest 11 pregnancy help center in the State of Illinois; and 12 WHEREAS, Over the past 30 years, the Society for the 13 Preservation of Human Dignity has grown from a phone help 14 line, to a full blown social service agency that is dedicated 15 to providing professional counseling, support services and 16 education to anyone facing decisions relating to pregnancy 17 and its challenges; the Society serves over 2000 clients per 18 year at its Palatine facility through intervention; and 19 WHEREAS, The Society of the Preservation of Human Dignity 20 also serves over 8,000 high school students through a 21 prevention program called "The Independence Highway", this 22 program is dedicated to educate and teach life skills that 23 will help teens build healthy relationships and protect their 24 bodies, emotions and future goals by choosing to postpone 25 sexual involvement until marriage; and 26 WHEREAS, Marion Stocker founded the Society for the 27 Preservation of Human Dignity based on the premise that women 28 who were faced with an unplanned pregnancy did not have to 29 seek an abortion; she has established a successful network of 30 caring individuals and community resources that has helped 31 women in the State of Illinois for 30 years; therefore, be it -2- LRB9207529RHrh 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we honor the Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity 4 for its 30 years of dedicated service to women facing 5 decisions relating to pregnancy and its challenges; and be it 6 further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the Society for the Preservation of Human 9 Dignity as an expression of our esteem.
