 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The Family, Career,  and  Community  Leaders  of
 3    America  (formerly  known  as FHA-HERO) is one of the largest
 4    career and technical educational student organizations in the
 5    United States; and

 6        WHEREAS, There are 220,000 members  which  includes  over
 7    5,000 members throughout the great State of Illinois; and

 8        WHEREAS,  The  Family,  Career,  and Community Leaders of
 9    America is an  integral  part  of  the  Family  and  Consumer
10    Science  education curriculum that operates within the school
11    system; and

12        WHEREAS, The Family, Career,  and  Community  Leaders  of
13    America  is the only national organization with the family on
14    its central focus; through FCCLA activities  members  develop
15    skills  to  assume  the multiple roles of family member, wage
16    earner, and community leader; and

17        WHEREAS, The Family, Career,  and  Community  Leaders  of
18    America  members  learn  leadership skills by seeking elected
19    office, and participating in team projects; and

20        WHEREAS, The Family, Career,  and  Community  Leaders  of
21    America members complete projects that guide them to discover
22    strengths,  target  educational  goals, and create a plan for
23    achieving the career they desire; technological literacy is a
24    vital aspect of career  preparation  in  this  decade,  FCCLA
25    offers   opportunities   to  use  the  latest  technology  in
26    individual, cooperative, and competitive events; and

27        WHEREAS, The Family, Career,  and  Community  Leaders  of
28    America  recognizes  that teens can play an essential role in
29    decreasing violent acts among their peers through  the  "Stop
30    the   Violence"   Program;   teens  are  being  trained  with
31    techniques on how to resolve conflict, recognize, report  and

 1    prevent  violent  crimes;  these  training  sessions  empower
 2    individuals  to make a difference and ultimately decrease the
 3    rate of violent crimes; therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 5    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 6    we  recognize  the  Family,  Career, and Community Leaders of
 7    America student youth organization  present  here  today  and
 8    congratulate  them  for  their  efforts  in  working toward a
 9    better Illinois; and be it further

10        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
11    presented  to  the  Family,  Career, and Community Leaders of
12    America student youth organization as an  expression  of  our
13    esteem.
