1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church is
3 celebrating its 100th anniversary on May 9, 2001; and
4 WHEREAS, The Ebenezer congregation was organized on May
5 9, 1901, with thirteen charter members in the North Lawndale
6 community; and
7 WHEREAS, Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church remains
8 committed to programs such as: The Ebenezer Whole Life
9 Center: Kum Bah Yah House, providing physical and mental
10 support for young parents and their infants; Girl Scouts,
11 reinforcing positive leadership skills; the Navigators
12 Program, a safe haven for young men encouraging positive
13 service; Lutheran Congregations for Career Development
14 (LCCD), providing workshops, job training, and employment for
15 young people; and Vacation Bible School, serving the children
16 in the church and surrounding community; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19 we congratulate the congregation of Ebenezer Evangelical
20 Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois, as they celebrate the
21 church's 100th anniversary; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to the pastor and congregation of Ebenezer
24 Evangelical Lutheran Church.
